I've always loved snowflakes and thought them to be perfect little mathematical beauties, but painting this piece after closely inspecting so many snowflake photographs made me notice the imperfections in a snowflake which give it its character. It's so much more than that each snowflake is unique. It's that each snowflake is uniquely and exquisitely imperfect, as are we all.
