The bee is a beautiful and tiny creature, but an integral part of our human civilization. I have been fascinated by bees since childhood, especially as my grandparents used to care for several bee colonies. I am grateful to have been taught that they are gentle, to treat them kindly and so will they treat you. I find watching bees work so busily unconcerned with the outside observer to be meditative and peaceful. This series of paintings addresses the significance of bees to our existence and success, and the effect that the pollinator crisis could have on civilization as we know it.
